DESCRIPTION:Course information:\nThis course is for beginners and for those with some experience.\nBeginners will learn the upholstery techniques and skills to upholster a small chair or stool in traditional or modern upholstery.\nIntermediates can continue to upholster an existing project or to start a larger project in either modern or traditional upholstery, learning new skills associated with their project.\nAims and Objectives:\n\nTo learn upholstery techniques and skills to make a small project\nTo continue to use upholstery skills and learn how to make larger projects\n\nWhat you will need to bring\n\nLearners will need to contact the tutor to discuss the project chosen to confirm it is appropriate for the course\nFurniture and fabric/ materials\nBasic items you will need include wooden hammer, tack lifter, fabric cutting scissors which are sharp, a blanket to work on to protect furniture and table, staple remover, stapler (good one – i.e., R13), soft tape measure, pen and pad, camera (optional).\n\nWhat is included in price of course\n\nTuition\n\nMaterials can be provided for an additional cost\nProgression:\n\nUse skills learnt to make a hobby into a business\nUse skills learnt to progress onto an accredited qualification\n\nCourse Detail:\nStart Date:        Friday 17 January 2025\nEnd Date:         Friday 28 March 2025\nWeeks;             10\nTime:                10am-4pm\nLocation            Cottenham Village College\nPrice:                £400\nHalf term 17 – 21 February\nTutor\nLisa Cramp\nLisa is a trained City and Guilds Upholster and has been running her own business for 14 years. She has been teaching upholstery for the last 6 year for day and evening classes. Lisa first recognised the need to train upholstery as most her business comes from local customers who, have either, inherited a piece that they want upholstered in a traditional way, or have more modern pieces that need an uplift.\n
